In July we launched Decorify, our generative AI model that creates shoppable, photorealistic images to enable consumers to envision their own homes in new styles by simply uploading a picture of their space. The feedback received has been great with users uploading more than 10,000 images and conducting just over 70,000 designs.

I recently had the honor of speaking at EmTech Digital, MIT Technology Review’s signature conference on artificial intelligence (AI) and business leadership. This isn’t my first time speaking at the conference, but it is my first time doing it in person.

With our global headquarters located in Boston’s Back Bay, we are constantly inspired and energized by the outstanding academic and entrepreneurial work being done all around us. Boston is steeped in history and education — some of its oldest institutions are its world-class universities. By comparison Wayfair is a relative newcomer, yet much like our neighbors in the academic world we’ve shared a love for experimentation and learning since the start.

Wayfair today announced that it has received a Google Cloud Retail Customer Award. This award was presented at the global digital experience, Google Cloud Next ’21, on October 12.

You can’t find couches made of frozen solid lake-harvested ice blocks on Wayfair.com, but on a cold winter day, look no further than co-founder Steve Conine’s backyard to find that kind of glacial decor. While the comfort and longevity of ice-based furniture might be up for debate, the lessons that creating it can teach are undeniable: “When you’re getting ready to hack off a chunk of slippery ice, the consequences of rushing to action without thinking ahead are obvious. It’s a strong reminder of the importance of managing risk and taking the right steps toward achieving your desired outcome,” said Steve. “With a chainsaw running, it’s a good idea to ask yourself, what am I OK with losing and what can I never get back if I make a mistake?”
