BOSTON – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Wayfair (NYSE:W), one of the world’s largest online destinations for the home, today announced the company’s partnership with Homes For Our Troops (HFOT), a nonprofit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post-9/11 veterans. The homes restore some of the freedom and independence veterans sacrificed while serving, and enable them to focus on their families, recovery, and rebuilding of their lives.

For Army Specialist Michael S. Monthervil, who was injured in Afghanistan in 2014, having space to move around and be comfortable at home is crucial to his recovery. While doing training exercises, SPC Monthervil sustained a spinal cord injury after falling on his neck, resulting in the loss of use of his legs. After going through surgery and rehabilitation, he has focused on recovery and has found ways to stay active, regaining movement in his arms and dexterity in his hands. However, his current home is not wheelchair accessible, making it difficult for him to focus on and prioritize his recovery.

Approaching the milestone to ending veteran homelessness

Whether that is those who have been forced from their home or those who have lost their home, our goal is to support housing and a sense of home for all. Our mission particularly rings true as it relates to the devastating crisis in Ukraine that has been on the minds of many Wayfairians and their communities over the last several months.

There is no ignoring the fact that 2021 proved to yet again be a year full of challenges and uncertainty for us all, including for the communities where we live, work, and play who continue to feel the many impacts of this global disruption. This is no different for the neighborhood around our own Boston headquarters – affectionately known as our “Wayborhood’ – which has felt the absence of business from office workers, many of whom have been working remotely throughout the pandemic.

Partnership to uplift students of color towards degree achievement

Jennifer Phillips and Kristin Filippelli never considered themselves “runners,” but when the COVID-19 pandemic hit and gyms closed, they both were in search of ways to keep themselves going. Both are colleagues on the Partner Operations team at Wayfair who partner with Wayfair’s suppliers to provide consumers with the products they love through an exceptional customer experience. When they each found out that they were training for the 2021 Boston Marathon, they joined forces to mobilize their team and amplify their impact.

Since 2018, Wayfair has been a proud partner to Homes For Our Troops, and recently, we had the opportunity to furnish our fifth home with the organization for Army SGT Brandon Korona and his family.
