Making a Difference, Every Day

At Wayfair, we believe we have an opportunity and responsibility to leverage our operational capabilities and expertise to give back and make an impact. This Giving Tuesday, and every day, we’re inspired to make a difference through the bond we share with our customers, our communities, and our people. In addition to giving back, we recognize the importance of reflection and expressing gratitude to the countless individuals and organizations who have played a role in helping us make a difference — both at home and around the world.

Our Customers

We know that our customers care about supporting their communities so we’ve created ways for them to join us in giving back. One key way we encourage this is through our donate-at-checkout program, which we launched in 2012. This year alone, Wayfair customers (like Martha from Michigan!) have donated over $500,000 to support organizations working to address causes such as housing insecurity, disaster relief and more. In addition, through events like our 5 Days of Deals sale, we’ve created content for our customers to engage with and learn more about the impact that they’re making in communities around the world.

Our Communities

In addition to what our customers do to support their communities, our partnerships with Community Solutions, Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness (CAEH), Habitat For Humanity International, Homes For Our Troops, and Team Rubicon allow us to support those doing work on-the-ground to provide housing and a sense of home for all. Whether we’re coordinating a product donation to a local Habitat ReStore or making a donation to support a specially-adapted home for an injured veteran, we’re constantly thinking about how we can innovate with our operational capabilities and expertise to give back to communities in need. In 2022, we’ve been honored to support…

    Our People

We also believe in harnessing the passion of our employees, and Wayfair’s Paid Day of Service encourages Wayfairians to pursue their passion and support causes and organizations that they love. Year-to-date, we have seen a 60+ percent increase in Paid Day of Service hours taken by employees, as well as double the number of employees utilizing this benefit. Meet a few Wayfairians and learn how they give back - whether that’s through their Paid Day of Service, or on their own time.

Carsen M., a Senior Recruiter on our Technical Recruiting team, used her Paid Day of Service this year to volunteer with Power the Polls. When she heard that Boston was in need of poll workers for the election, she stepped up to volunteer her time. “I love that Wayfair prioritizes giving employees the time to give back to their community. It means more than any amount of monetary donations and really showcases the values we have as a company.”

Sheri K., Service Training and Development Manager, knows that solving the world’s issues begins one town at a time - with one person at a time willing to jump in, get their hands dirty, and work alongside others to make the world a better place. “I have partnered over the years with organizations to bring recovery services to my beautiful town through HIV Alliance who provides medical care, safe syringe programs, education, and more to folks living in active addiction.”

Stephanie is passionate about programs that support young people, especially ones that help educate them about civic engagement. For Stephanie, to work at a company that emphasizes the importance of giving back both on a company and individual level, is really important to her. “If you have the ability to make a difference for someone - big or small - why would you pass that up?”

Jeremy M. on our B2B Sales team and an outdoor enthusiast. He has been involved with the New England Mountain Bike Association, as well as an educator and mentor for younger members of his community. This year, he volunteered with the New England Mountain Bike Association to organize group rides at Sugarloaf Mountain, but also learned more about the organization’s conservation efforts, as one of the primary groups who maintains trails in Maine. In his own words, “I have worked for a few large companies and I think that what is really unique about the day of service we are offered is that we get to choose who to partner with. If you want to organize something with a large impact, that's ok, if you want to do something solo with a non-profit, that's ok, it's a great way to be involved and be an individual about it.”
